COVID-19 sure has put a monkey wrench into things, hasn't it?! While, personally, I've been working from home for many years now, there are days when I feel I've just been stuck at the desk, and I gotta get out! I'll go to my wife and say "I got cabin fever. I'm going to the bank/park/car wash/taco joint/insert lame excuse here...!" And that feeling is unique to this COVID crisis.
Being locked down, it's easy to forget the WHY of it. All's we seem to know is that we can't do things like we used to do. And that has a significant effect on our psyche. Which, in the long run, will effect us physically, too. So my solution to that is to keep acting as "normal" as possible. I continue to stay in contact with friends and family via email, text, and social media. And we've had a couple of small get togethers, where everyone wears masks and maintains physical distancing. It's weird, especially when we can't hug, but being with humans other than your immediate family is a huge blessing!
Don't get me wrong, I believe that doing what's best for "the greater good" is very important. I firmly believe that physical distancing, wearing masks, and reducing large crowds will go a long way towards ending this crisis. And we, as responsible citizens, should each do our part towards ending this nasty crisis.
But for me, this is one of those "you don't know what you have until you've lost it" scenarios. That we are a social species, and our lives are meant to be spent with those that we love. That human contact is important to our sanity and survival! So my advice is to get out of the house on a regular basis. Go see your friends and extended family, responsibly of course! Because life is not intended to be a solo career...!
