"The Bitterness of Poor Quality Remains Long after the Sweetness of Low Price is Forgotten."

Perhaps Benjamin Franklin didn't have the Yugo in mind when he spoke those words sometime in the late 1700's, but it certainly could've been the poster-car for the quote! I've often said "if low price equaled high quality, then we'd all be driving Yugos," (see Blog "Remember the Yugo", July 2020). But low price rarely does equal high quality, and so...when was the last time you saw a Yugo on the road...?!

When I wrote that blog, I was referring to the quality of LED light bulbs and fixtures. But this topic came up the other day in relation to what I am doing now; performing high quality, "Investment Grade" Lighting Audits. But it is true with just about every product and service that we come across.

Of course that doesn't mean that we shouldn't shop around for a reasonable quote, since highest price isn't always the best value either! VALUE, that's it! "Value" is really what we as consumers and business people should appreciate the most. When I am soliciting quotes, I try to find the best "value". I interpret that to be the best product/service per dollar spent. And when I am selling myself, I try to price myself such that I can make a fair profit, and give my client a high value product in return. Giving my client "Value"!

As a matter of fact, sometimes my name, "Accurate Auditors", can be a bit of a curse. There are times when I realize that I missed something, and if it's late in the day, I might say to myself, "oh, its no big deal." But then I always yell at myself, saying "Nope, that's not true! You're "Accurate Auditors" and you have to get that information!"

I'm sure that good ol' Ben wasn't thinking of Lighting Audits when he made that statement over 250 years ago, either. But I like to think that the spirit of his words help to drive the quality of work that we strive for here at Accurate Auditors LLC...!
